A delegation from the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) and a group of 45 urban planning and human geography students and teaching staff from Leeds Beckett University (LBU) visited Hamburg and the HafenCity University (HCU) in the week from 25 to 29 March. In a lecture, Andreas Obersteg (HCU) presented the REPAiR case study on Hamburg-Altona and the County of Pinneberg. The professional planners from RTPI showed great interest in the work of REPAiR. As they explained, the idea of urban metabolism and circular economy is not very present in many British cities and counties, and there is a lack of integration of these topics into town and country planning. Since LBU and HCU have established a long-term exchange over the last years, it was agreed that the upcoming results from REPAiR will be shared with both the academic and the practitioner colleagues from the United Kingdom.
